Submit to God and Resist the Devil

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:6-8 NKJV

You cannot resist the devil until you have first submitted to God.

God gives us all the grace we need to overcome sin and the devil:

But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 5:20b-21 NKJV

God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble:

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:5-7 NKJV

A proud, arrogant spirit makes you an easy target for the devil. When you think you can deal with the devil on your own terms, you will find out that you are no match for him. The power comes only from Jesus and flows through a life that is submitted to Him.

Jesus has defeated the devil and all authority has been given to Him:

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38 NKJV

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18 NKJV

Jesus gave the authority to use His Name to the believer:

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:17-20 NKJV

You have authority over devils and demons, but your rejoicing should not be over that, but only the fact that your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Therefore fully submit to God and His Word with your spirit and with your mind and will:

My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22 AMP

[That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God’s Law; indeed it cannot. Romans 8:7 AMP

So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word. Ephesians5:26 AMP

The carnal mind, which has not been renewed to God’s word, cannot and will not submit to God’s law, but when it is washed with the word of God, it becomes sanctified and submitted to Him. Welcome God’s word into your heart.

My son, do not think lightly or scorn to submit to the correction and discipline of the Lord, nor lose courage and give up and faint when you are reproved or corrected by Him; 6 For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes. 7 You must submit to and endure [correction] for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. Hebrews 12:5b-7 AMP

Submit to correction and discipline from your Father God. He loves you and the fruit of a disciplined life is the peaceable fruit of righteousness!

Resist the devil and he will flee from you:

Nor give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:27 NKJV

You give place to the devil through sin, disobedience and pride. Don’t allow the devil into your life and don’t allow sin, disobedience, or pride either. Ephesians 2:2 says that he is the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:7-8 NKJV

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil!

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9 NKJV

Be aware, be awake, be steadfast in faith and resist the devil!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12 NKJV

We can’t fight the devil in our own strength, but we can defeat him with the weapons of our warfare: Truth, Righteousness, the Gospel of Peace, Faith, Salvation, the Word of God, Persevering Prayer, and most of all, the Name of Jesus!

Submit to God and resist the devil!

MIND-SET by Rodney Howard Browne

This horrible trek is the scene of the ultimate endurance test called the Sled Dog Race, where 12 huskies pull a sled and its driver thru the most exhausting, inhuman conditions one can fathom. One frequent champion was girl.

The secret, she would tell you, was her very own mind-set and the coaching of those dogs, which gave new meaning to the word “serious.” Her 150-dog dog house was a thing to behold.

straight after each puppy’s birth, although it was still blind, she held it in her hands and breathed her breath into its nose. She personally nursed them to health when they were wounded. She was infinitely patient with them, talked to them, thought in them, even sang to them ( old folks songs by Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, and some Irish lullabies ).

They saved her life on the trail several times. Back in 1979, she led her dog team to the 20,320-foot peak of Mount McKinley. One journalist described her as having “a stiff backbone.

.an unrelenting mind-set,” which was what she wanted to endure moose attacks, snowstorms so dreadful that one time for 5 hours she could not see the lead dog, and a unexpected plunge into icy water ( Granite and Maddie, the mushers, pulled her out ). To survive it calls for help from above and toughness from inside. If she was ready to give that sort of effort to win a race that’s awesome in the eyes of the Earth, appears to me we deserve to be capable of conquering the marathon from earth to heaven.

Dr. Rodney Howard Browne preached to thousands in New York

During a Great Awaking Tour in New York, God is reviving Dr. Rodney Howard Brown’s people as they are going outside the four walls of the church and leading multitudes to the Lord.

Dr. Rodney Howard Browne preaches that God has continually sought a personal relationship with each and every man and woman.

Both to Greeks and to barbarians (to the cultured and to the uncultured), both to the wise and the foolish, I have an obligation to discharge and a duty to perform and a debt to pay. 15 So, for my part, I am willing and eagerly ready to preach the Gospel to you also who are in Rome. 16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God’s power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  Romans 1:14-16 AMP

Rodney Howard Browne teaches us that the old man, Saul, did much damage to the church in his quest to do what he thought would please God. When God arrested him on the road to Damascus, changed his heart and his name and called him into the service of the Lord Jesus Christ, the new man, Paul, threw himself into this call with the same zeal that he had displayed when he had previously persecuted the Church!
And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one prematurely and born dead [no better than an unperfected fetus among living men]. 9 For I am the least [worthy] of the apostles, who am not fit or deserving to be called an apostle, because I once wronged and pursued and molested the church of God [oppressing it with cruelty and violence]. 10 But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me.
1 Corinthians 15:8-10 AMP
Rodney Howard Browne shows us that when God opened Paul’s eyes, he saw his sin and was intensely grateful for God’s forgiveness and the righteousness he received in believing in the Lord Jesus. You can imagine how terrible he must have felt when he realized how arrogant he had been and how much damage he had done and yet God showed him only mercy. How appreciative he must have been that God could forgive someone like him and use him for His glory! He was deeply humbled by God’s grace and forgiveness and strongly motivated to do everything God told him to do with all that was within him – no matter the cost.
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. 3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. 4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.  Philippians 3:2-9 KJV

Rodney Howard Browne also points out that all the things that Saul had thought were so very important, all the things he was so very proud of, Paul counted as dung. Paul counted no longer on the flesh and his works and put all his confidence in Christ Jesus and the righteousness which is of God by faith. Now he lived to please God and not himself.  Paul made a commitment to Christ, to fulfill God’s call and to give his all for the Gospel and for the Kingdom of God! Even though he went through horrendous persecutions and hardships (2 Corinthians 11:22-28), he never lost sight of God’s purpose for his life and the debt of gratitude he owed the Lord for saving him.

Paul says that he had:
-an obligation to discharge
-a duty to perform
-and a debt to pay

Rodney Howard Browne tells us that a debt is something that is owed or that one is bound to pay to or perform for another. A duty is something that one is expected or required to do by moral or legal obligation. An obligation arises from a sense of duty. It is the act of binding or obliging oneself by a promise or a contract. An obligation is an agreement that is enforceable by law. It is an indebtedness – a favor, service or benefit for which gratitude is due. It is the state of being under a debt, as of gratitude, for a favor, service, or benefit. Paul voluntarily chose to obligate himself to God’s service because of his gratitude to the Lord. He committed himself completely, expecting nothing but a “well done” at the end of the road.

Rodney Howard Browne warns that many Christians do not feel the obligation to the Cross that Paul felt. Maybe they are lukewarm, or they have the fear of man in them. Either they don’t have a revelation of what Jesus has done for them personally or they are just flat ungrateful. They attach little or no value to the price He paid for their salvation. Of the woman who wept and anointed Jesus with precious perfume, Jesus said, “She was forgiven many, many sins, and so she is very, very grateful. If the forgiveness is minimal, the gratitude is minimal.” (Luke 7:47 Message Bible).

Christians, if they have not already done so, should realize how much they owe the Lord and stop living for themselves alone. We should all start to really appreciate the price Jesus paid for us and commit ourselves fully to God’s plans and purposes. You and I are no different than Paul. God has been so good to us! We have eternal life! We are not facing an eternity in hell! We too have an obligation to discharge and a duty to perform and a debt to pay! Let us purpose today to always be grateful to the Lord for the great things He has done for us and to get up and fulfill the Great Commission with the same heart and passion as Paul!

Church in Agony by Rodney Howard Browne

Church in Agony by Rodney Howard Browne

A cup bearer was the person that tasted the food and drink of the king before he ate or drank. That way, if it was poisoned, “So long, cup bearer,” but “Long live Pharaoh. This led straight to a really tight relationship, a relationship of trust between the 2 men. Regularly the king of the land would confide in the cup bearer. If you recall, Nehemiah was the cup bearer to the king of his day and had a close, private relationship with him. In a number of ways, the cup bearer was the most reliable man of the court.

If that trust was ever damaged, major implications followed. Something similar to that must have occurred, as the cupbearer to Pharaoh landed in jail—as had also the king’s baker. ( He was someone else on whom the pharaoh relied, because whatever he prepared passed into the mouth of the Egyptian ruler. ) The specifics of what had happened to cause this falling out and punishment we are never told. All we all know is that they “offended their lord” and he was “furious with his 2 officials.” Perhaps the biscuits dropped that morning, and later there were too many jalapenos in the chili, and the cupbearer did not warn Pharaoh.

It must’ve been related to the food because their roles were interrelated. But whatever it was, it made Pharaoh so indignant that he claimed, “Get out of my sight. And since God’s techniques are deep and surpassing, it occurred to be the same jail where Joseph was detained. Joseph and these 2 men may have finished up in jail for different reasons, but they found themselves in the same place, sharing similar miseries. And out of his very own unpleasant experience, Joseph was ready to minister to them.

Transcendental Meditation by Rodney Howard Browne

Transcendental Meditation by Rodney Howard Browne

Transcendental Meditation is “in.” Ask any amount of celebrities or central authority leaders or public faculty officials or thousands of school youngsters who commend it. All are going crazy over a Hindu monk. Advocates around this gullible world have developed a huge network of World Meditation Society centers, declaring them to be the answer to emotional and physical ills and an excellent way to raise the individual.

Affidavits go with the propaganda : A pro basketball player claims it helps him make his foul shots. Mums announce it gives them patience with small children.Merchants experience wealth by practicing it. Underneath TM’s surface rests a philosophy that is worse than deadly. Vedic literature includes sacrificial incantations, formulas utilized by sorcerers who practice the black humanities.

TM is sorcery wrapped in a clean, white bed sheet. How does TM work? A customer at a TM center pays the charge and receives instructions. This comprises the giving of a “mantra” with straightforward directions. A mantra is a secret, individualized word that’s to be used frequently during “meditation sessions.” Vedism and Hinduism both refer to the chant. The repeating of the mantra is a signal, asking assistance from the spirit world.

Will you achieve results if you practice TM? Yes, indeed. Will things occur if you solidly apply the paranormal formula? Like you will not believe. Chances are, you’ll get more than you bargained for. But he will not be smiling and before long, neither will you.

Contentment in Life by Rodney Howard Browne

Some lessons in Scripture are completed instantly. As an example, after we trust Jesus Christ as our Savior, our deliverance is accomplished.

Though we might need guarantee sometimes, the problem is settled forever. At other times, a lesson must be learned continually. Just when we think we have it down, something comes along to check our understanding. One of those lessons involves being content in all circumstances. To experience happiness is to be free from worry and disappointment about unsatisfied wishes in our life.

When we look closely at Paul’s words in Philippians, we recognize 2 critical guidelines. First, happiness is not ruled by circumstances. If it were, we’d have huge issues. We can’t flip a switch and make everything right at our workplace, in our home, among our kids, or in eventualities which we will not control. But the majority are discontent because they don’t understand this principle.

Paul’s secret may also be ours : “And the peace of God, which exceeds all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” ( Philippians 4:7 ). The second principle is that our inner self, or angle, is what manages happiness. Paul failed to have a “roller coaster faith” that went up and down ; instead, he had a calm confidence that no-one could thieve something he possessed on the inside – his relationship with God was his source of satisfaction. We all experience stress, but when we reply with religion and prayerfully cast cares on Him ( one Peter 5:7 ) our sense of happiness can’t be thieved.

The Emotion of Displeasure by Rodney Howard Browne

Have you been envious of somebody else’s success? Perhaps your neighbor brought home a mint vehicle this week, or maybe somebody at work just got the promotion you desired. When eventualities like these stir up inexplicable reactions inside us, we just might have an issue.

Envy is the emotion of displeasure on seeing some other person’s good fortune. Are your sentiments always the clearest indicator of truth? Most frequently, the answer’s no. In fact, Scripture announces that our hearts are “deceitful” ( Jeremiah 17:9 ). We must instead concentrate on what we are true: God’s Word.

Let me ask you a query : what pleases you? Does your joy rely on possessions and accolades, or do you draw your pleasure from the Lord? If your pleasure is in “things,” then you should expect a tussle with envy at any moment. In our proud spirit, we believe that we have entitlement to somebody else’s blessings. In a way, we are pronouncing, “God, You gave this thing to that person, but you must have given it to me. You were wrong.” We may not say it so really, but our actions could be talking louder than our words. When you’re feeling the beginnings of an envious angle, ask God to refocus your attention from “things” back onto Him.

What To Do When In Doubt by Rodney Howard Browne

Rodney Howard Browne explains how to handle doubt. Since religion is the center of our Christian experience, the effects of wavering religion are far-reaching. Unsure trust can lead us to make inaccurate calls. Though we get an answer to prayer, we’d think, I will not do that. So, rather than asking God to reinforce our religion, we create excuses for why we won’t obey. We may decide to delay our obedience – even indefinitely – or do something we consider just as worthwhile.

Rodney Howard Browne teaches us to obey with all our heart. Partial obedience is still insubordination, and it leads to mistakes. Not only can failing religion result in poor decisions, but it is also dear. The Israelites rambled 40 years in the desert as the country authorized unbelief to overtake their religion. Wavering ideology can make us miss out on the blessings of God ; they often prove dear to those we adore too. Our confidence also will be troubled by shifting religion. When we are spiritually unstable, we are going to be shaken by small things – even trivial matters. Rather than standing firm, we will find our confidence eroding. Then we become less ready to take the hazards God is asking of us.

Rodney Howard Browne teaches us to draw near to God. Instead of acting with certainty, we shall question and doubt what we are hearing from the Lord. We intend to also find joy lessening because our wavering faith has led us away from God’s will. The inner peace of God that we once enjoyed evaporates as our religion weakens. Irrespective of how unstable our religion is, God invites us to draw near so he will be able to buttress our trust in Him. When He does, give Him the glory. ( Romans 4:20-21 ).

Discipling The City One Home At A Time

“From the Heart” teaching by Drs. Rodney & Adonica Howard-Browne.

1. The Great Commission

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age (Matthew 28: 19- 20 AMP).

• We have been commissioned to win souls.

From Jesus’ character, they learned:

• How to have a heart for God.
• How to make decisions.

• Depending on the Holy Spirit.

Christian Values
• Love, faith, prayer, humility, obedience

Guilt Causes Immense Insecurity by Rodney Howard Browne

Rodney Howard Browne explains that guilt leads to all kinds of mind games. Have you been truthfully shocked at some of the thoughts running thru your mind in occasions of intense regret? We’ll take a fast look at some results of this perilous “game.” First, guilt has the potential to shake our beliefs’. We may wonder at our unfortunate behavior and think, there is no way I’m able to truly be forgiven – God can’t still love me after I acted this way.

Guilt breeds fear – fear of discovery and implications, to name a pair. The Demon wants you to keep looking over your shoulder; that way, you cannot keep your eyes on where you’re going!

Guilt leads to the wish for punishment. We may start to isolate ourselves or drive folk away as we feel undeserving of their love. This is another devilish trap. Just as in war, an infantryman standing alone is a big fat target for the Enemy.

Rodney Howard Browne explains that guilt causes enormous insecurity. A guilty conscience naturally ends up in thinking, I am not quite good enough. If I were a better Christian, I would not have done that. Not surprising no-one likes me. If you are wrestling with the issue of guilt, I pray that you’ll leave your remorse where you are standing and attest these three things: I am special. I am loved. I am forgiven. Say them aloud as a prayer of praise to God: Say them regularly, letting the words sink into your consciousness.

Jesus wants you to be an active infantryman for Him. Don’t let the Enemy take you out of the battle.
